Where did you get the idea for Mindel and The Misfit Dragons and how long did it take you to write?

When my oldest granddaughter was 10 years old, she asked me to write a book for children.

She asked that it have a Jewish theme. I had recently fallen in love with dragons, having researched dragon lore for a workshop I did for her younger brother’s class. Somehow all that came together and Mindel began whispering her story to me.
The book took me over two years to write and an additional 4 years to do the calligraphy and artwork, during which time I studied (and continue to study) under master calligrapher DeAnn Singh of Designing Letters.
My oldest granddaughter, A, by the way, now has her driver’s license!
