Xianna Michaels is a poet, writer, artist, teacher and publisher. She creates intricate medieval verse fairy tales in a process she likens to the ancient bardic traditions and illustrates them with her own pen and ink drawings. She also writes spiritual poetry in a genre she calls “healing song.” She teaches workshops on writing poetry for self-healing and is the creator of The Alchemy of Illuminated Poetry® process and the Xoem® verse form.

Realizing that her writing style did not fit into a typical publishing category and knowing she had to share her work with the world, Michaels founded her publishing company, Alcabal Press, LLC. She is the author of Mindel and the Misfit Dragons, Lily of the Valley, The Alchemy of Illuminated Poetry®—Seven Steps to Your Personal Gold, and most recently, The Sorcerer Queen.

A former high school teacher and award-winning historical novelist, she holds a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics. She and her husband have four grown children and are blessed with a plethora of grandchildren. They live in an old hacienda in Southern California.
